City of Anaheim Adopts Cloud-Based e-PlanReview® to Expand Remote Operations and Improve Plan Review Processes for Constituents and Staff - e-PlanSoft

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IRVINE, Calif. – Dec. 21, 2020:  The City of Anaheim Calif., and e-PlanSoft™ today announced the successful implementation and go-live of the cloud-based electronic plan review platform, e-PlanReview (EPR)® and goPost™ public portal.

The City of Anaheim Public Works Department began using e-PlanCheck™ (EPC) from e-PlanSoft™ in 2018 when it launched a pilot program to adopt electronic plan reviews and submittals as part of its commitment to best serve residents and businesses. The pilot began with cellular plan submittals and later expanded to include grading projects, road improvements, and city water and electrical projects. EPC has allowed staff to access and complete review tasks while telecommuting, ensuring minimal disruption of services for customers, even throughout the recent modification of City Hall operations during the coronavirus pandemic.

The electronic plan review model lowers the cost of doing business for both the city and customers by replacing printing, shipping, and storage expenses of paper plans. The collaborative platform also improves communications between the customer and their plan engineers, reducing the number of emails, phone calls, and any confusion regarding status or recommendations on any plan. As the coronavirus pandemic created a critical need to provide services remotely and limit in-person interactions, it became evident that the success experienced with electronic plan review should be expanded to the City’s Planning and Building Departments using the next generation plan review platform. Cloud-based e-PlanREVIEW offers scalability and dramatically increases rendering speeds, reduces processing time, and allows collaboration across multiple departments. Further increasing their efficiency, the City has added e-PlanSoft’s goPost public portal, which allows plans and associated documents to be submitted and corrections accessed from anywhere, at any time, from any device with a secure internet connection.

With the upgrade to e-PlanREVIEW, the City, engineers, builders, and ultimately, customers will benefit from streamlined workflows and a full array of additional functionality, such as improved permissions control, partial document intakes for resubmittals, and a faster, more efficient review process that will result in a shorter time to final approval.  e-PlanREVIEW also introduces several enhancements to promote improved collaboration and efficiencies of services. The improved capabilities are anticipated to support the additional expansion of the electronic plan review processes within other areas of Public Works as well as for services to Planning and Building customers, and would eventually extend to all permit types over time.

“As friendly and professional as our team is, we know that the best trips to City Hall are the trips that our customers don’t have to make,” said Ted White, director of Planning & Building  “We look forward to EPR helping our customers not have to spend their valuable time at City Hall.”

“We’re excited to bring this state-of-the-art solution to the City of Anaheim. They will benefit now and into the future with the ability to collaborate remotely, standardize comments and recommendations, and improve efficiency in plan review. Users and applicants within the city and the private sector will enjoy this easy-to-use product for faster and more accurate electronic plan review,” stated Jorge Raya-Navarro, Project Manager at e-PlanSoft.
