Irvine, CA – August 10, 2015 – The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) recently implemented the Accela Civic Platform and e-PlanCheck® solutions – both Web-based systems – to provide integrated case management, construction / code enforcement, permit issuance, and license management services to Michigan citizens.
Overseeing the licensing and regulation of over 1.2 million entities annually, the volume of the State of Michigan’s permits and renewals submitted necessitated a solution to accelerate the permitting process. The Accela Civic Platform and e-PlanCheck’s online, integrated system will take the entire permitting process electronic, reducing the time required to process permit applications, and enabling LARA to more quickly and effectively serve the citizens of Michigan.
“e-PlanCheck integrated with the Accela Civic Platform will greatly improve our ability to serve the people of the State of Michigan by reducing the time required to process permit applications, allowing us to accept applications and payments online and using automated workflow and document distribution. We are very pleased with the results of implementing online plan review with e-PlanCheck.” – Larry Horvath, Director at Bureau of Community and Health Systems, Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
LARA and The Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB) are leading the State’s goal to continuously expand the benefits of e-government solutions to the citizens of Michigan. Citizens, contractors, and other business professionals will be able to access government services at any time, allowing them to submit and view results of service requests, apply for and check the status of permits, upload images, view system-generated alerts and notifications, and access reports provided by state agencies. Using the Accela Civic Platform and e-PlanCheck, LARA staff will be able to manage the entire permit process – from submission to approval – electronically.
