For Immediate Release: Irvine, CA | e-PlanSoft™ is pleased to announce that Kern County, the third-largest county in California, will be going live with eplansoft REVIEW™, an industry-leading platform for their plan review needs. Kern County officials began the implementation process on June 24th of this year and they expect to be fully transitioned from an e-PlanSoft™ legacy product, ePlanCheck, to the newest release of plan review software, eplansoft REVIEW™, by the end of November 2019.
eplansoft REVIEW™ allows for team-based design review, permitting, and site assessment all from one platform. It was created by industry experts and designed with county and municipal agencies in mind. The SaaS platform aids with code compliance and lowers the cost of doing business through the removal of expensive paper waste and storage. It differs from the e-PlanSoft™ legacy product in many ways but some of the most prominent features include:
1. Slip Sheeting – allows applicants to resubmit plan sets with fewer pages than the previous submittal, with the intent that only new and/or changed pages need to be resubmitted; newly added sheets are placed in order based on sheet number
2. Scout PDF Inspector – upon document upload Scout identifies known issues in PDF files prior to assignments being created and if a document does not pass Scout inspection, it will not proceed for plan review
3. Overlay Mode –visually identify, and track changes made from version to version easily with document overlay and side-by-side views
eplansoft REVIEW™ will vastly benefit Kern County and its citizens by lowering the cost of doing business in both the private and public sectors. For example, this technology will aid significantly in the AdvanceKern initiative. AdvanceKern was created to prioritize sustained full-time job creation and increase new business ventures. This affects many industries in Kern County including hospitality, healthcare, and destination retail to name a few.
Additionally, the County will be leveraging the current Accela Citizen Access portal in place. Available by PC, tablet, or phone, the Accela Civic Platform enables citizens to process permits and licenses, submit applications, schedule inspections, and track the status of their submittals. This platform integrates with eplansoft REVIEW™ and it eliminates the requirement for applications and builders to wait in long lines at the county office to submit plans in person.
